Fight the Accuser
by Linda Sedrick Pearson
There is an accuser who points his bony fingers at the children of God. Day and night he stalks the earth (Job 1:6-7; 1 Peter 5:8-9), tempting and tormenting those who are not prepared for battle. He is our enemy. The accuser is Satan and he hates God’s children. He wants to destroy us.
He lies about us and tells us lies to get us to turn our backs on God. It is up to us to be prepared for these tactics of the devil. He hinders us with deceit (1 Thessalonians 2:18) and causes division and contrary beliefs. These beliefs are contrary to God and God’s words.
He weakens our nations through the sin of pride – prideful men stand and proclaim “I will do things my way!” Our widows and orphans go without help while others get lost in addictions. These are people searching for a better way who have never found Jesus Christ.
Take heart, children of God. We do have defenses against these tactics of the devil. Against the accusing and stalking tormentor we only need to be aware that he is seeking us out to destroy us. If we are aware of these tactics, then we can prepare before he catches us. Close any doors of weakness. If you have played around with occult objects or read books on witchcraft out of curiousity or maybe with an intent to try them out, ask God’s forgiveness. Burn any objects you have in your possession that promotes these things. Don’t pass them on to others. Burn them, destroy them. This is the only way to close these doors of weakness. Slam the doors in the face of Satan.
Another way to defend yourself against the accuser is to stand up to him in the authority and power of Jesus Christ. If you are a child of God, meaning you have accepted Jesus Christ as payment for all of your sin, you do have the authority and power of Jesus Christ and can stand up to the accuser. Cast out any demonic or bad spirit that may have attached to you through touching things that are not Godly. Rebuke Satan in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. Ask God to show you the truth. Ask Him to open your spiritual eyes so you can see the real truth that is lurking in the darkness.
Resist the devil with your faith in God. Stand strong in your faith. Pray for our government officials and for the healing of our nation. Realize that Satan has no real power unless we give it to him. We give him power when we dabble in things that are not Godly. The truth is one of the biggest defenses against the devil and his lies.
Stand strong, Christian. Stand up and fight the accuser. Do not back down and do not give in. Whatever you do, do not run away. Stand up in the power and authority of Jesus Christ, the Son of God who came in the flesh. Stand and fight!
Forgiveness is Defeat for Satan
by Linda Sedrick Pearson
2 Corinthians 2:10-11 To whom ye forgive any thing, I forgive also: for if I forgave any thing, to whom I forgave it, for your sakes forgave I it in the person of Christ; Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.
When we forgive others, we are keeping Satan from getting an advantage over us. It keeps him from defrauding us, tricking us, and taking power over us. We take away all gain away from Satan when we forgive others.
Another important aspect of forgiveness is that whenever we forgive, God forgives us also. Sometimes before we forgive someone we may say bad things about the individual who harmed us. Or we may do acts against that person. These are giving Satan a foothold on us. It opens doors for Satan to enter in and gain advantage over us. He will irritate us with things about the other person and will keep us dwelling on hurts or perceived hurts. You have to let these things go and truly forgive any person that has hurt you or that you think has hurt you.
Forgiveness is a defeat for Satan because he no longer has access to us through that doorway. Put up your shield of faith, go to the person and tell him or her you forgive them (if that is possible) or in your heart do the forgiveness. Then do NOT let Satan hit you with darts of hurt about that person. Let it go – bury it – and walk away from it. Rebuke Satan when he tries to accuse you of unforgiveness or guilt. You do have power and authority in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of God, to forgive someone and then walk away and rebuke Satan when he tries to bring it all back to your remembrance! Stand up in the power and authority that God has given you. Defeat Satan! Forgive!
Face Your Fears
2 Timothy 1:7 For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.
Fear is a weapon that Satan uses against us to keep us down. If he can convince us that there is something to be afraid of, then the devil wins. This is the enemy’s main tactic against us as Christians. Fear has no power unless we give in to it.
We can win the battle and defeat the devil by facing our fears. Stand up to any fear that is coming against you. No matter how hard it is, stand up and face it. You will find that, in most cases, facing whatever it is you are afraid of has no power when you stand up against it.
Hebrews 13:5-6 Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me.
Believe in God, he is your helper. As long as God is on your side, you do not have to be afraid of anything that man will do to you. Stand strong. Raise the standard of God as your battle flag and face your fears. You will be the victor!
