Sing unto the LORD

Psalm 13:6

I will sing unto the LORD, because he hath dealt bountifully with me.

Did you know that you can sing unto the LORD even if you think you do not know how to sing? You can sing in your spirit if you don’t want others to hear you. Some people hold back in their musical worship of God. If you think you cannot sing, then sing to the top of your spirit’s voice! Sing inside of yourself. Praise God. Praise Him in all ways. Raise your holy hands toward heaven and sing his praises.

God loves to hear your voice even if you think you do not have a singing voice. Sing in your heart, in your mind, in your spirit. Praise him in song!

Be Still…

Psalm 46:10

Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.

Sometimes all God wants us to do is be still. I don’t know about you, but I sometimes get busy with things concerning everyday living and forget to just sit down and be still so I can listen to God.

When things aren’t working out for you or you feel that you cannot hear the voice of God, sit down and be still. Know that he is God! He will take care of things, but maybe it is time for you to be still and listen to him.

Until next time,

Sewing Talents Used for Christ

Did you know that God used a woman named Tabitha (Dorcas) in the Bible to lead people to Jesus Christ? Tabitha was also called Dorcas. She worked sewing coats and clothing for the people. That was her special talent to help provide for others.

Acts 9:36-42  Now there was at Joppa a certain disciple named Tabitha, which by interpretation is called Dorcas: this woman was full of good works and almsdeeds which she did. And it came to pass in those days, that she was sick, and died: whom when they had washed, they laid her in an upper chamber. And forasmuch as Lydda was nigh to Joppa, and the disciples had heard that Peter was there, they sent unto him two men, desiring him that he would not delay to come to them. Then Peter arose and went with them. When he was come, they brought him into the upper chamber: and all the widows stood by him weeping, and shewing the coats and garments which Dorcas made, while she was with them. But Peter put them all forth, and kneeled down, and prayed; and turning him to the body said, Tabitha, arise. And she opened her eyes: and when she saw Peter, she sat up. And he gave her his hand, and lifted her up, and when he had called the saints and widows, presented her alive. And it was known throughout all Joppa; and many believed in the Lord.

No talent is too small or too big. God uses all of us to show others his love. What is your special talent?

Reincarnation is a Myth

by Linda Sedrick Pearson

Reincarnation is a myth. It is a lie of Satan. If we do not get it (our lives) right this time around, there will not be a second time.

Hebrews 9:27-28  And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment: So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation.

When a person dies there is no coming back to try it over again. The Bible says, “Once to die.” One time only – you live your life – then you die. Then, you face the judgment. What judgement? God’s judgement.

That is why Jesus Christ gave his life for us. He knew we only had one chance to get it right and that we could not get it right on our own. Salvation and the saving grace from God’s judgment is Jesus Christ.

Accept Him or Reject Him! It is your choice.

Whoa There!

James 3:5-6  Even so the tongue is a little member, and boasteth great things. Behold, how great a matter a little fire kindleth! And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire of hell.

Isn’t it amazing that people can control something as large as a car or truck, even a backhoe. However, I have problems controlling something that is a part of my own body - my tongue! Why is that? Does my mind overrule  my common sense and send signals to my tongue to speak things that hurt others? It is like the more I try to rein it in the more it gets uncontrollable.

I do not know the answer to why I speak out to hurt others. I hate myself when I do that. I never mean to do it, it just sometimes happen before I realize what is happening. I think that is why I like writing. I can write something down, let it sit, then go back over it and soften the words.

Please pray for me that God helps me to bridle my tongue and never hurt anyone with it.

John 15:5

I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.

John 15:15

Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you.

Jesus tells me in his word that he is the vine and I am a branch. If I remain in him, I will bear lots of fruit. Apart from him, I cannot do anything.

If I turn from him, if I neglect reading my Bible, which is his word, and I do not spend time praying, which is my communication with him, then I am cut off from the vine.

The vine is the life force for the brance. It is the instrument that feeds me, nourishes me, enables me to grow and sustains my life. If that is cut off and I am removed from the vine, I will begin to shrivel up, dry up, and eventually to die. I must have the connection to the life giving force of the vine that allows me to drink from the living water in order to survive.

Are you connected to the vine, Jesus?

Do you feel like you are drying up?

If you are not connected, pick up God’s word, the Bible. Drink from it and begin to live again!

Just Checking In

James 2:1-5  My brethren, have not the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Lord of glory, with respect of persons. For if there come unto your assembly a man with a gold ring, in goodly apparel, and there come in also a poor man in vile raiment; And ye have respect to him that weareth the gay clothing, and say unto him, Sit thou here in a good place; and say to the poor, Stand thou there, or sit here under my footstool: Are ye not then partial in yourselves, and are become judges of evil thoughts? Hearken, my beloved brethren, Hath not God chosen the poor of this world rich in faith, and heirs of the kingdom which he hath promised to them that love him?

Just Checking In

Author Unknown

A minister passing through his church in the middle of the day decided to pause by the altar and see who had come to pray. Just then the back door opened, a man came down the aisle. The minister frowned as he saw the man hadn’t shaved in a while.

His shirt was kinda shabby and his coat was worn and frayed. The man knelt, he bowed his head. Then rose and walked away. In the days that followed, each noon time came this chap. Each time he knelt just for a moment, a lunch pail in his lap. Well, the minister’s suspicions grew, with robbery a main fear. He decided to stop the man and ask him, ‘What are you doing here?’

The old man said, he worked down the road. Lunch was half an hour..lunchtime was his prayer time for finding strength and power.

‘I stay only moments, see, because the factory is so far away; as I kneel here talking to the Lord, this is kinda what I say:

‘I JUST CAME AGAIN TO TELL YOU, LORD, HOW HAPPY I’VE BEEN, SINCE WE FOUND EACH OTHERS FRIENDSHIP AND YOU TOOK AWAY MY SIN. DON’T KNOW MUCH OF HOW TO PRAY, BUT I THINK ABOUT YOU EVERYDAY. SO, JESUS, THIS IS JIM CHECKING IN TODAY.’ Read the rest of this entry »

Rev 22:16-19

I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and morning star. And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely. For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book: And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.

God tells us that it is our job to put the word out there for people and to do our best to testify for him. It is up to the people to accept or reject the word and Jesus Christ. We cannot force them to accept him and should never try to do that. The word is powerful. Put the word out there. God’s word will never come back void (meaning your teachings and testimonies are never in vain). At the very least you have done what God has instructed all Christian to do – testify and teach about the Lord Jesus Christ.

We have to be careful that we don’t add or subtract from God’s word. Do not tell people that the Bible says something unless you know for a fact that is what it says. Jesus tells us in Revelation that “if any man shall add unto these things [meaning God's word], God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book. And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy God shall” remove that person’s name from the book of life, out of the new Jerusalem, and from the things (promises) which are written in this book (the Bible).

That shows us how serious God is about his word and his protection of it. Remember, your job is not to rewrite or edit the Bible. Your job is to put it out there as God gave it to us and let the people do their part to accept or reject it.

Revelations 22:12-13

And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last.

Jesus is everything. He is the beginning and he is the end. He is all things. We are to be ready for when he comes back to receive us into His Kingdom. Each person will receive his or her own reward and Jesus is bringing his reward with him. For me, it is enough that I receive Jesus and make it to that meeting! He is my reward. What about you?

Prayer: God, lead and guide us through this day. Protect us from evil that will try to make us trip and fall. Bless the works of our hands as we go about the daily business we have today. Thank you for all the blessings you give us and for providing us everyday. I praise your Holy Name! – Amen

Verse of the Day:  John 21:6

And he said unto them, “Cast the net on the right side of the ship, and ye shall find.” They cast therefore, and now they were not able to draw it for the multitude of fishes.”

You know, there are a lot of things in our lives that we have to make sure we are casting our nets on the “right side of the ship.” If you have been stumbling around and cannot figure out the problem, take a look. Maybe you have been casting on the wrong side of the boat.

Wonder why your net is not full of fishes? There could be a few reasons why that may be.

1) Your net is full of holes – Have you been praying every day? Keeping the lines of communication open with God, keeps our nets mended.

2) Fishing in wrong waters – Maybe you have steered your boat into bad waters. If so, start your engine and get out of there!  Go full speed back into Godly waters.

3) Casting your net on the wrong side of the boat – As Jesus told the disciples, you have to cast your net on the right side of the ship. The right side of the ship is Jesus.

If you have not accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as your Savior, then you are casting your nets on the wrong side of the ship. Move over to the other side of the boat – accept Jesus Christ. Confess your sins. Start walking on the right side.

May God bless the writing of this message. May it lead others to Jesus Christ.
