Time of Judgment
by Linda Sedrick Pearson
Malachi 4:1-3 For, behold, the day cometh, that shall burn as an oven; and all the proud, yea, and all that do wickedly, shall be stubble: and the day that cometh shall burn them up, saith the LORD of hosts, that it shall leave them neither root nor branch. But unto you that fear my name shall the Sun of righteousness arise with healing in his wings; and ye shall go forth, and grow up as calves of the stall. And ye shall tread down the wicked; for they shall be ashes under the soles of your feet in the day that I shall do this, saith the LORD of hosts. (King James Version)
Malachi 4:1-3 “That time of judgment is coming. It will be like a hot furnace. All the proud people will be punished. All the evil people will burn like straw. At that time they will be like a bush burning in the fire, and there will not be a branch or root left.” This is what the LORD All-Powerful said. “But, for my followers, goodness will shine on you like the rising sun. And it will bring healing power like the sun’s rays. You will be free and happy, like calves freed from their stalls. Then you will walk on the evil people–they will be like ashes under your feet. I will make this happen at the time of judgment.” This is what the LORD All-Powerful said. (Easy Reader Version)
In these verses, God says that the day of judgment will be like a hot furnace. People full of their own selfish pride will be punished. All evil people will burn like straw. Nothing evil will be left untouched by that burning.
God’s followers will not suffer that burning. Instead, goodness will shine on you and you will be healed. You will have freedom and happiness. You will walk on those evil ones that are burned. They will be like ashes under your feet!
During these times it may sometimes look as if the wicked and evil ones are winning. But as we can see by these verses, that is not the case. When all has been said and done, we will tromp on them as they get their just due.
